Over the last year, we have been busy building the foundation to make significant positive changes in our community. Below is some of the work we have been doing:

Assessment

We conducted an assessment of African American youth in the David Douglas school district regarding alcohol, marijuana and tobacco use. We were looking to collect data to see what similarities and differences we could draw from African American youth exposure and use, compared to their peers.

Underage Drinking Town Hall

HAAYCC along with Big Village Coalition we be conducting a Underage Drinking Town Hall November 30th At Highland Christian Center. There will be youth of all ages in attendance with breakout sessions ,food and giveaways . For more information please contact us .

Community Marijuana Training

In October of 2016, we partnered with Big Village to put on a community education seminar for middle school and high school educators as well as prevention and public health professionals. The training focused on identifying youth and young adult marijuana use as well as tools to work with youth and young adults regarding marijuana use.

The event was held at the Hilton Downtown and attended by over 150 people and the feedback we received was amazing.

Monthly Meetings

Every month we have a planning meeting to set action items and bring community members to the table to work on making Multnomah County the best environment we can for our youth.
